Europe Trip: Chorefto (Greece) and Athens with mormor and morfar, part 3

Day 31: Pelion train turned into a train adventure

Our last thing to do in Pelion before leaving this beautiful place was to go on the very old Pelion train from the late 1800. It is a 90 min ride from Ano Lehonia to Milies where you spend a few hours before going back with the same train. The train goes very slow, about 20km/h high up in the mountains, giving you a great view and taking you over several arched stone bridges. We were all very excited to get on and had no idea that the ride would end way before we got to Milies...

Looking out the open window

Wow!!

First stop and everybody got off for 15 min break
After the first stop the train continues and we kept going for about 15 min before the train stopped!? Some people got off and started looking under the train and after a while they started backing the train, very slowly... The train was on one of the bridges and it was almost a little scary to go backwards... We didn't go far before they decided that it was not a good idea, and asked everybody to get off and start WALKING back... What an adventure to walk on the stone bridge and back on the tracks!!! We only had to walk about 10 min before we reached a road where a bud would take us back to Ano Lehonia. Not quite what we had planned but the boys were just as happy with the walk and the bus as they would have been on the train!

Bye train...

That is our train, that we had to leave behind..

Happy on the bus!

From the menu at the restaurant where we had lunch, in Ano Lehonia. You wanna eat some port shit?? Ha ha ha!!!
On the way back home to our house we stopped at the ski resort in Pelion. It did not really look like it was used last winter... and maybe not all prepared for the coming winter either... I would love to go skiing here if they would be open!!!

The ski slopes are all there waiting for some snow!!

Day 32: :Driving from Chorefto to Volos to NISI Glamping in Stilida (Greece)

Packing the car, cleaning out the house and leaving to see my friend in Volos before heading back towards Athens again... We met my friends and her family in the village that they call "our village" and had lunch with them. They probably server 25 different dishes of delicious food! After a wonderful lunch we went to see their walnut farm and their friend's cotton farm. So exciting for wanna-be-farmers like us!

Harvested some cotton, I see!

Day 33: Driving from NISI Glamping, Stilida to Athens, and picking up pappa at the airport!!!

We stayed at the most awesome Glamping in Stilida where they had so much fun things for the boys, like basketball, soccer, playground, trampoline, obstacle course etc etc. BUT, we arrived after dark and it was pouring rain when we woke up in our fancy tents in the morning :-( They tried playing in the rain while we packed the car but it was not fun. I felt so sorry for the kids!!

But, when we arrived to Athens we made it our mission to find a playground and we did. We drove to an area in Athens where my dad had been as a teenager and found a great place to play! The boys had a great time!!!

Marlee, cracking walnuts at our house rented in Athens. It was in Porto Rafti and perfect for us!

Pappa arrived late in the evening and I picked him up at the airport. So nice to having him back!!!
