Europe Trip: One of the most amazing places I have ever been to!!! (long post)

Next stop the amazing cliffs in Meteora...

Day 43: Drive from Olympia to Pyli up in the Greek mountains

A curvy road and very very beautiful!! Lots of animals on the road, even two horses walking on the top of a dam!?

Back by the beautiful expensive bridge. This time we decided to take the ferry over :-)

The ferry actually gave a lot better view of the bridge and we even went under it :-)

Alex had a radio interview on the way to Pyli so we had to stop and me and the boys went for a walk in the middle of nowhere. The view of the valley below us was incredible!!

Day 44: Visiting Meteora

We woke up in a very cold Pyli and we only had our sandals and light clothing so a trip to the car was necessary before exploring the town for some breakfast. It was 4C (40F) when we woke up and made it all the way up to 24C (75F) during the day, quite a change!

Our house is the one to the right. It was very very old...

Never seen mittens before!!

Getting breakfast in the cold

We found some breakfast and we managed to wake of Marlee, or at least almost...

Time to hit the road!!! I was really looking forward to seeing these monasteries on the top of these cliffs. When we got there with the car and should decide where to go first (you park at each monastery) I almost felt like a child when arriving to an amusement park. I could not decide where I wanted to go the most. They almost looked unreal.

At least one of them "keep" their monks for forever...

The monks, and possibly some other important people, get to go in the little wire cars instead of climbing stairs like the rest of us :-)

This was also a paradise for rock climbers. Can you see them?

Up on Agia Triada

We visited Grand Meteora but not Varlaam
Here you can see the path to walk on the side of the mountain

We visited Roussanou, which was the only nunnery here

Agia Triade (The Trinity) was our last stop.

On the way up to Agia Triada

Day 45: Drive from Pyli to Corfu (the island)

I could definitely have stayed longer in Pyli. Such a charming old town in the middle of all the mountains. I love love being surrounded by mountains! (me and Alex met in the french Alps :-) Well, we had more amazing places to see and things to explore so we left our old house and made a quick lunch stop by the old stone arch bridge, built in 1514, right outside Pyli. So beautiful!!

Do you see Alex and Noah?

On the bridge

Rafael was pulling Marlees hair (which he is VERY good at) and Marlee finally pulled back...

Passed by Meteora again... simply amazing!!

The rest of this day was spent in the car and later on at the ferry over to Corfu...
