Animal sound

Today was the 1,5 year check up with the doctor and it went fine. Marlee is not talking as much as "expected" but the physical development was very good. The speech is nothing to worry about though and he saying a few words. Just the other day he learned a few animal sounds, cat, cow and horse. He is so cute when he make those sounds!! He can also point out his foot and hand. When looking in his book and there is an image of a plane he points up in the air and when there is a flower he tries to smell it. When the picture of pappa comes up he points upstairs because that is where he is and when there is a police car then he makes police car noise. It is so much fun to see how he learns more and more!

For those who do not understand Swedish Marlee is first making the cow sound, then cat and then horse. Then he gets bored... :-)

Lost in the forrest

A wonderful day even if the weather was not great. Started out with an exiting mushroom hunt with my friend Lisa. We all got lost in the forrest but by using google maps and a compass we got back to the car. It was never scarry but we were running out of time. Marlee got tired and hungry and we needed to be home in time to go visit some neighbours who had invited us for lunch. Marlee fell asleep in my arms on the way back to the car and he was such a good boy picking mushrooms before he got tired. We did find a lot of mushrooms today but unfortunately we had to leave a lot of them behind because of the time limit. But we will be back!

Alex, Marlee and I had a great time with a couple who lives down the road. Not a lot of people our age lives near by but these people we could actually walk to. Maybe not if you are an American :-P

First week back at work

Three days have passed of my first week of working. A day and a half of work and one and a half day spent with Marlee. When working I have left before Marlee wakes up which makes it a lot easier to leave. The first day at work was ok but I wanted to go home very badly in the afternoon. I think it helps a lot to know that Marlee is home with Alex where he feels safe and with someone who loves him and wants his best.

The harvest yesterday

Marlee found one of his favorites, a snail....

It was surely very nice to be home today and spend the whole day with my favorite!! We filled the day with lots of fun! Started the day at the open pre-school where we met a lot of other children and parents. After going home and taking a nap (only Marlee, I took the chance to clean up pears from under the pear tree from a storm last night) we went out into the forrest again to look for mushrooms. Later, after dinner, we went home to my grandma, "gammelmormor" where Marlee tried to smell (eat) her flowers.

An afternoon on the beach

A beautiful day that we spent in the garden and down on the beach. Marlee has learned how to eat physalis, that you have to take off the little leaves surounding the fruit before eating it.

After lunch and nap time we went down to the beach because the weather was still very nice and warm and, it might be the last "beachable" day this year!! The water was actually 19-20C (68F), which a lot of Swedes consider swimable. Marlee and I are two of those Swedes and we took this last chance.

My last Mummy week...

My last week of Mummy leave has just past and it is only a weekend between now and my first day back at work!! A strange feeling, or actually, I am trying not to feel anything and not think about it. Just do what I have to do... It does feel good, though, that Marlee will be home wih Alex when I go to work. That he will be where he feels at home and comfortable. Maybe comfortable is not the right word because he has been very grumpy at home lately. Probably bored and missing friends to play with. He is always happier as soon as we leave home and he gets to see other people and children as well as other places and things. We have been to the open pre-school two times this week and I plan to go there when I have my days off of work, which will primarly be Wednesdays. Today we have spent a lot of time with my grandma who finally got back home from the hospital after three months away from home!

Marlee continues to steal vedgetables when he is outside. He is so cute! Before eating the tomatoes he always makes sure to remove the little green part (not sure what it is calles in English). And when picking peppers, he makes sure to take a few quick bites before I have a chance to take it away from him. He is also very amazed by all the mushrooms growing in the garden after some heavy rain but luckily he has not tried to eat any of them yet. They are not the kind that I would pick and cook.

Mushrooms!!!

My last "home improvement" project before going bak to work was to replace a "temporary" piece of fabric that we have to keep snow and leaves etc away from the porch. Last night I did the sewing and today I did the replacement work.

They fit!

Today* Marlee figured out that the building blocks fit inside the vacuum cleaner "hose" and that my shoes are just the right size.

* Two days ago, I had some trouble to upload the video so it got a little delayed
