Fårö - beach and raukar

Fårö always means a lot of beach days and this summer has been an incredible summer so far. I think we have gone swimming in the ocean every day (except Alex who has not gone at all of course) so we cannot complain!

Kubb game

Gabriel on the board and me and David watching him.

They had a church service out by the Helgumannen fishing village so we went to enjoy it. It was a nice experience but the sermon was not that great.

After the church service we drove to the raukar on Digerhuvud and Langhammars. The kids had so much fun to climb the raukar!!

Fårö - Night swim

Finally it was time to head over to Gotland and Fårö where Mormor and morfar live and where Noah and Gabriel are. We drove to Nynäshamn and took the ferry to Visby. Then drove to Fårösund to take the ferry to Fårö. We hade good trip and a great cabin on the boat with plenty of space for Lego and a good front view :-)

We brought food onto the ferry, Kebab. Delicious food that we can thank the Middle East for :-)

It was a little windy out on deck..

Waiting fort the little ferry that takes us to Fårö..

When we arrived to mormor and mortar they had prepared dinner that we enjoyed outside. After dinner the kids wanted to go swimming before bed. :-)

Beautiful sunset!

Our first days in Sweden, incl. Midsommar

We finally made it to Sweden but our bags unfortunately did not. Our first flight was very late so they did not manage to transfer the bags fast enough. They did arrive later the same day and we had to drive back to the airport and get them as they could not deliver them fast enough. Noah and Gabriel were leaving by 9am the next day with my parents, to go to Fårö with them.

Mormor and morfar met us at the airport but since we are too many to fit in a normal car we also had a taxi booked to pick us up. We all went to the their house where some of our friends came to see us. It was so good to seem them unfortunately I didn’t take one single picture! :-( Rhey had a new “baby”, now four years old, that we had never met and his older brother is Marlee’s best friend from when we lived here.

Before we get to the proctored from Sweden I wanted to add some more pics from the flights. I must say that I really missed a bed this time as it was hard to get some sleep with David next to me.

In Mormor’s and Morfar’s house…All the kids got some snacks (Swedish candy cars) for the trip. As mentioned two of the boys went with my parents to Fårö, while the other two took the train to Mottala to see some friends and pick up our car. They had made sure that the car was running good and had passed the yearly inspection cars get here. We are so thankful for all the work they put into our car to make it ready for us!!!

Gabriel and Noah on the ferry to Gotland.

And the rest of the boys on the train(s) to Mottala.

Arrived to our friend’s house and all the boys got gifts!! So spoiled! Our fiend and he husband has a son Rafael's age so they had fun.

People from other countries probably don’t understand this but Swedish “plockgodis” is a wonderful and delicious thing. Our friends took us to a big candy store with more than 700 different candies and we did our best to make up for four years of very little Swedish candy. My parents always brings a lot but it is still not enough. It is just THAT good :-)

From Mottala we drove up to Uppsala to see some more friends. On the way there we stopped at Örebro castle. Just for a very quick visit. Since my kids have not spent very much time in Sweden I really want to show them a lot of Sweden now. We won’t have time for much this trip but whatever we can squeeze in I’m happy with.

First stop in Uppsala was to a friend who we got to know in Chambery where me and Alex met. We were all there at the same time so we have know him as long as we have known each other. He and his wife had a one year old baby girl that we got to meet. So cute!!! David made a friend! ❤️ Our friend is now running a farm so Marlee and Rafael had fun playing with the hay-marshmallows :-)

Next stop was Uppsala cathedral. A beautiful church from the 12 hundreds.

Last stop for the day, some more friends in Uppsala. Alex had to do some work so the wife, me and the kids went to explore their neighborhood and playgrounds :-)

MIDSOMMAR!!!! A very Swedish holiday with strong traditions. I was so happy to be able to show my boys a good Swedish Midsommar celebration. We ended up doing it in Kungsängen where I grew up. It was a little too hot but apart from that it was perfect.

Gabriel and Noah celebrated Midommae with Mormor and morfar on Gotland, and also got to meet my god parents! I must say I am a little jealous about that! We will go see them again when we are all on Gotland.

Back to our Midsommar in Kungsängen.

Marlee had his friend over for Midsommar and they enjoyed some chess and play outside.

Delicious strawberries and ice cream.

Our friends form Mottala also joined us for Midsommar :-)

We got to bed late and the day after we headed to Fårö to reunite with Noah and Gabriel :-) We got some intense and wonderful days around Stockholm before going to my parents’ island.
