U.S. ROADTRIP: Grand Canyons, AZ - Last Day

Such a short visit but so many impressions and so many wonderful and fun memories. Our second and last day in Grand Canyon we spend hiking down in the canyon. Unfortunately, we did not have enough time to go down all the way, and might have been too far for some of the boys, but we walked down part of the way before we had to turn back up again. A fun and exciting walk. More fun and cookie monster surprise awaited when we got back to the village.

Taking a break in the shade

The cookie monster incident with A COOKIE MONSTER IN DISGUISE!! We thought this was just a cute Cookie monster that was some kind of tourist thing in the little village, but.... I did think it was  a little strange that he had a purse around his neck and after taking pictures he asked for donations. I asked where the donations would go and he said it was for him (!?). We only had a few coins since we just came back from a hike and we gave them to him. A few min later, when we were having lunch close to where he was, he started yelling that he needed $20 and he took off his cookie monster head and kept yelling at people. He took off his whole costume and went to his car (I assume). Came back with a big sign and started yelling about how the food at the local restaurants poisoned people and that you should not eat in the national Park. The kids where in shock!!

Before the chock...

We went back to our trailer and were looking forward to a well needed shower at one of the facilities. We had gotten one shower token for each adult and was planning on taking two kids each and shower. When we got to the showers we realized that each token included 5 min of water!!!! We had to shower three people in five minutes!!! Well, I guess we were a little cleaner after our five minute shower even if we were not as clean as we had hoped for...

Time to head south and deeper into the heat of Arizona...

  1. Being too close to the edge of these cliffs, still scares the crap out of me. Love, Farfar
