Baking, beach and birthday party

It has been a week full of activities! Since mormor and morfar brought a lot of candy and baking material, such as fresh yeast, herbs and special flour, baking has been on the agenda. Of course a lot of beach time as well!
Baking Swedish bread, "Gotlandslimpa"

The result, 4 of these

The lasagna we had for dinner the other day was very popular...

... and very messy. We brought Gabriel and the high chair outside to rinse them both off with the hose :-)

More baking. This time Swedish cinnamon buns

Almost ready, just some sugar missing on the top

Voila!

Last Sunday we finally had Marlee's birthday party, only two month late :-) It was great with lots of friends and kids!

Time to open presents!

Yesterday we went to visit Fort Matanzas in Saint Augustine. Notice that it is not San Marcos, which we have visited before. This one included a short boat ride to the fort and a short guided tour. The fort was tiny but a fun visit.

We started today with a visit uncle Mike's pool where Marlee practiced diving and Noah swimming.

After lunch I took the chance to finish the curtains for the boys' room that I started with months ago. I managed to do one and then I never finished the other two, until today :-) The rest of the crew was down by the beach while I got some time alone at home sewing.

Night story time!

It almost feels unreal!

It started out as a normal day on the beach...

Toka playing with a fish his dad had caught

Curren and Noah playing in the water

Noah has become really brave in the water

An there he goes under!

Alex practicing surfing with the kids

... until we saw a group of people watching something in the water, moving along the shore...

We joined the group of people and realized that it was a shark that they were watching, and it was pretty big! And very close to the shore, about 10-15feet.

You can see the fin sticking out of the water
Suddenly our friend Brad decided that he was going to catch the swimming shark so that the kids could see it close up. Crazy!!??

Brad's great accomplishment!!!

When getting a closer to the shark we saw that it had a hook stuck in its mouth. Brad managed to get it out while we were all watching bewilderedly.

And when all the excitement was over, we all went back to swimming and playing as if nothing had happened... It almost felt as it had never happened... Not sure if that makes us crazy but the shark did not have a very scary or aggressive appearance, even though, I still don't want to meet one while swimming!!!

Gabriel refused to wear a sun hat so a beanie will do

Marlee's graduation from Kindergarten

Last Friday was Marlee's graduation from Kindergarten. It was a big ceremony for all the graduation students from the coop and it was a lot of fun! It started at 6.30pm and lasted for several hours. Gabriel got bored rather quickly but had fun with his friend Elliana :-)

Each class at the coop includes students from different levels but during graduation each grade would come up on stage separately. That meant that they would not necessarily go up there at the same time as their friends.
